Who should attend: All TAPMS members and others who are interested in aquatic plant management, biology or ecology, or who are involved in the protection, management and restoration of water and wetland resources, are invited to attend. Whether you work in the public or private sector, as an aquatic weed management professional, water resource manager, researcher, or regulatory official, the TAPMS annual conference delivers up to date information.
Topics covered: Aquatic plant management tools and techniques, recent technological advances, new research relevant to your work, environmental laws and regulations, public outreach initiatives, business development, and TAPMS business. All TDA certified aquatic pesticide applicators can receive up to 5 CEU credits.
Abstract Submission
Abstract submission is now open HERE! You are invited to submit an abstract for an oral presentation related to aquatic vegetation management and preservation of natural aquatic environments, including control of invasive aquatic plant species and conservation and propagation of native aquatic plant species including rare or threatened species. Presentations should be 15 minutes with an expected 5 minute Q&A period. For previous TAPMS presentations please visit our Conference Agendas page under the Resources Tab.
Because student presentations and participation offer a valuable contribution to support this mission, The Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Foundation (AERF) is offering full reimbursement for travel costs associated with delivering conference presentations and attendance of the 2023 Texas Aquatic Plant Management Society Annual Conference in Mesquite, Texas. Travel funding is offered on a reimbursement basis only for costs of airfare and for lodging, and meals incurred during the conference, as outlined HERE. Outstanding Student Presentation Awards will be given following the award criteria found HERE.
Abstract submission deadline is October 2, 2023, but early submissions are preferred.
David Allen Bass Scholarship
TAPMS is seeking deserving college students currently enrolled in relevant academic programs and who are interested in applying for a $1,500 scholarship. The 2023 David Allen Bass Scholarship will be awarded during the TAPMS banquet on November 16th, 2023 in Mesquite, Texas; applicants are strongly encouraged to attend. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic excellence, professional and extracurricular activities, career goals, and contributions to aquatic plant science and management or contributions relevant to the TAPMS focus in the fields of biology and ecology. Applicants must be registered for the 2023 conference to apply for a scholarship; presentation is preferred but not required.
Scholarship applications must be received by October 2, 2023 and should be submitted via email to the Scholarship Committee at txapms@gmail.com. Please prepare your application as a PDF or Microsoft Word document in the format outlined HERE.
